February 8th, 2021: St. Josephine Bakhita, still among us

Bakhita, message of hope:
“… may I fly down there to my people and preach your goodness with a loud voice to all, O Lord.”

Bakhita is the first saint of Sudan. A true story, whose tragic beginnings, when she was uprooted from her village as well as the dramatic experience of the years of her slavery, did not presage her future choice of the Christian faith and a lifestyle of holiness in the Congregation of the Canossian Daughters of Charity.

Bakhita continues to live among us, among her people through the presence of the Canossian Communities that in Khartoum and in El Obeid realise the dream of “Mother Moretta” by working among the poorest of the poor, in schools and refugee camps” with the support of the VOICA Canossian Foundation.

Join our solidarity. It takes a little to offer “a better life”.
